Paint Time!

OK so for anyone who has built a car or bike or anything with an engine, this seems to be the hardest part of the entire build....choosing a color and a design for you project. Well I am no exception. I finally came up with the Black and Copper combo for color and just started to lay down the fine line tape.

Seat Arrived!

Well the seat I won off ebay arrived and I must say that I am REALLY impressed with it.
Looks even better in person and the leather and tooling is TOP NOTCH!

Rich Phillips Seat

This is the seat that I'm waiting on. Should be here in a few days! Rich Phillips Hand tooled Leather seat. If it looks anything like it does in the picture, I'm sure this thing is gonna be awesome!

Overdue Update

Wow, summer was CRAZY and work has not let me give the Bobber as much attention as I would like....

Things done since last post...

-Powder coated the handle bars flat black
-Found a 1969 triumph oil tank that I hollowed out and made into a electronics box
-Got all the TIG welding done for rear MC, Seat spring perches, and coil plates
-Painted gas tank (still not sure of design graphics)
-Bead blasted rear fender
-Forward controls
-Custom fabricated rear MC linkage

This is the bike as it sits now.....

Road Trip!

Well went down to Helena Montana on the weekend to pick up what is now strictly a basket case bike.
The title is lost and unable to be produced, so the PO dismantled the bike for me. Cost me a case of beer but I was glad to do it!

Time to start loading the parts into the car. This would make a good Ford Focus commercial.

Now the parts are in my garage awaiting the transplant!

Here is what the bike looks like now....

Deposit Sent, now the waiting game

Well sent Bob the deposit for the bike today. Can't wait for the road trip and the bike to be in my garage. Leaving on the May long weekend here in Alberta. Did I mention that the bike only has 6200 original miles?! I'm stoked! Thanks once again to CRAIGLIST! What the hell did we do before the internet......

New Parts (page 3)

Went to the local Recycle place for used bike parts and found the Cylinder head with good sleeves, and a new top end with good valves. I got all three pieces for 150.00. I figured that this was a great find because shipping all these heavy parts would be a killer!

Then decided that I should tear the frame down and clean up the bike a bit.

To my surprise the frame is in Excellent condition with only a few tiny spots I have to touch up with some black paint!

After looking and doing my due diligence.....(which my loving beautiful wife hates) I managed to locate a perfectly restored running XS650 for $900.00! by using this new bike as a donor, I was/am able to save in XS (haha pun intended) of $3000-$4000 in parts and shipping. I will be going to get the bike in a few weeks and the rest of the parts that I don't use will be available on www.xs650.com
Here is a pick of the bike.

I will be transferring the following to the Bobber:
-Engine
-Exhaust
-Front and rear tires (they are brand new)
-front and rear brakes including rotors
-New forks (polished)
-Wiring harness (minimized)
-Ignition
-Levers etc
All the rest will be for sale!
